Son of Cālā and nephew of
Sāriputta. He
was ordained by Khadiravaniya-Revata (Thag.vs.42; ThigA.i.110).
He is mentioned as living at the
Kūtāgārasālā, which place he left when the
Licchavis caused disturbance by their
visits to the Buddha (A.v.133). In this context he is spoken of as a very
eminent Elder and was, therefore, evidently an arahant.
